Two Shoes Tuesday (on Friday) - Fear

TWO SHOES TUESDAYJoining Josie for another version of Two Shoes Tuesday.... every week she gives us a word and asks that we share a short story, poem, essay, thought, or photo relating to that topic.

this week the topic is: FEAR

..

What possesses a person to pack everything they own (well everything their children own...) and hide it under the seats of a car? FEAR
What possesses a person to drive far, far, far away...crying the entire time know they have just stirred an ant hill? FEAR

or how about getting this phone call in the middle of the night: "You F- - - - -G C--T, I swear you will never see your children again!" That sparks a fear you cannot imagine!

So...let's talk about the victims of domestic abuse and the fear that they live with on a daily basis. The fear of speaking their own mind, the fear of losing their children, the fear of losing their own lives... but that's okay... after all the abusers are so good at what they do that the victims are wrong.. right????

We need to figure out a way to stop this madness and end this fear!

  1. I can't even imagine the fear that some women live with on a daily basis. It's appalling to think that often there is nowhere safe for them to go.

  2. Yes, that is the most powerful example of fear that I know, Brenda, and it is also a fine example of courage and self-preservation! It took tremendous courage to make that choice and take a tremendous risk to escape that situation, despite overwhelming fear of what could result. Every woman (or man... and there are some) who has ever had to draw the line and take that first terrifying step to freedom has my total respect. This is what being a survivor is all about. These words clearly come from your heart... and look how far in life you've come! HUGS

    1. Thanks Josie... I realize how truly lucky I am in that I escaped with my kids.... unfortunately they still had to put up with him for years but are now old enough to understand what kind of a person he is.....

  3. The fear is not always about what might happen to ourselves it is what the abuser tells us will happen to those we love but we have to know how we need to love ourselves also, but it is the one thing they erase us of knowing. Even with mine getting 9yrs 8 months in prison for leaving me for dead he still caused me extreme fear he made it known he could still get to me even in prison but once I started loving myself and staying a single mom no man just me & my kids I found me again !! the courage to escape is remarkable but we should NEVER EVER say.....why does she stay?? why doesn't she just leave him??? It truly isn't that easy. NO ONE can imagine the mind control involved, the beat down of self worth. I so admire and adore you Brenda <3

    1. SO TRUE! The mental abuse is 'invisible' to all others, but those of us who know what it feels like can spot it a mile a way....
I do not understand what kind of person enjoys having that kind of control!

I admire and adore you to!! <3
