Two Shoes Tuesday - Door

TWO SHOES TUESDAY
Josie at Two Shoes in Texas hosts a Two Shoe Tuesday where she gives a prompt and wants us all to write, read, speak, show....etc... (you get the picture)....

this week the prompt is: Door

I have been pondering this word for days and this is what keeps popping into my head:
When one door closes another one opens
So I decided to look up this quote and see who first said it.... I was stunned: Alexander Graham Bell said it... but this is the whole quote:

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

Huh... I never heard it that way before... have you?

That got me to thinking about other 'door' quotes.... check these out:

“Prayer is the key to Heaven, but faith unlocks the door.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

“When a man opens a car door for his wife, it's either a new car or a new wife.”

“The door to happiness opens outward” Buddha

“Every wall is a door.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

“A man who does not plan long ahead will find trouble right at his door”  Confucius

Then of course... we all know Jim's favorite.... the door to a man's heart is through his stomach (I always thought that was key... but I will go with door for this post)

Hop on over to Josie's and see everyone else's take on this prompt... I assure you it will be a door well worth opening :)

  1. This was a fun read, Brenda! I did not know the full quote by Alexandar Graham Bell, or that he was the one who said it! As my daughter has dealt with being single again in the last two years, I often found myself reminding her of the necessity of closing the door looking back and leaving the front door open to possibilities. She's caught on and has moved forward with her life,as we all must. I loved the other quotes you shared too, and had to smile at the one about opening car doors, very true! :-)

  3. Nice write up on 'door' sayings, Brenda. I like your opened door as it too, besides my stomach, has worked in my life. I don't plan too very good but have mostly made life decissions in the taking or rejecting open doors--I do almost always have a plan B however.

Thank you for the mention. That nice eating bit works for me in both love life and in friendships.

  4. I am a quote collector and these are good. The one about car doors makes me wonder why we are so careful of new things and not so much the old? Often the old is so much better...
