Coffe Chat - Heroes

Leslie at Time out for Mom hosts a weekly meme - Coffee chat --- she wants us all to grab a cup of coffee, sit around and talk about the same thing...

Well.. this week she wants to know about our real life heroes. I have been thinking about this for a few days and last night it completely dawned on me....

I was driving on a two lane highway, Michelle was in the passenger seat, and I heard a funny noise. It got louder and louder and I looked over at Michelle and said, "I think we have a flat tire."

I pulled over to the shoulder - which was not much wider than my car - and got out. Sure enough... flat tire - back left tire. I was on my way to visit my son (Randy) and his beautiful son (Ryan) - probably 25 miles away from them. I picked up my phone and simply said, "I have a flat tire." His response? "I'm on my way!"

so as I'm sitting in my car freaking out Michelle said, "It could be worse... we could be stuck on the 405 (middle of construction right now... no shoulder)." At that moment I realized she was right.. I could have lost control of the car, veered off, gotten into an accident... any number of things. But I didn't.

Twenty five minutes later my wonderful son pulled up behind me and immediately emptied my trunk into his, took out my spare and my jack and changed my tire for me. I ended up having to buy a new tire...oh well :(.

But I realized at that moment I must've done something right with that boy! ha ha ha....
If that isn't a hero... I don't know what is!

  2. Awww, this made my day :)
What a wonderful young man to come to his mama's rescue like that. What an encouraging thought that all this hard work, instruction, discipline and love overflowing that we pour into our children will one day bear good fruit.
And to have your daughter be so positive and calming too.
What a great blessing they both must be.
And also most certainly glad you both are okay!!
Thanks for linking up and keeping it real :)

    1. it does pay off in the end... it just takes a long time to see the results.... you'll get there... but don't rush it... there is nothing the same as a good old cuddle... and that goes away when they grow up!

  3. I like your hero too. We had a slow leak in our tire this morning. Could it be something in the air?

  4. You've raised a great couple of kids. Blown tires can be scary (having had more than a few in my lifetime) but they helped you get through the situation. Keep being awesome, Mama!

  7. Definitely your son is a hero! I've never had a flat tire, I know it is inevitable one day, but glad you weren't on a busy freeeway when it happened!

  8. Oh! How sweet! Your son came and fixed your flat tire! ;) It’s a good thing that he knows how to do it. He’s indeed your savior! You’re lucky to have a good son. Well, I imagine my son would do the same for me as well. Haha! That would really be nice! But, that’s soon after he grows up. :p

  9. @Rita: I’m thinking the same thing. My son must be able to help women, especially her mom when it comes to this kind of situation. This is why I make sure that even at an early age, he already knows something about cars. He already knows how to change a flat tire, though he still needs a bit of help since he can’t do it on his own yet. :)
