Pondering with a Purpose - Wander

Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!
Think on Thursday
I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt: Wander

If you had the chance to wander anywhere you wanted... where would it be?
Let's just say that you had 24 hours to be anywhere ... and had no other obligations or responsibilities  ... where would you like to wander?

This is a tough question for me to answer. I find that I am the most at peace with myself when I can hear or smell the ocean, but I find that I go less and less often... wonder why. (I really need to remedy that!)

I would love to wander through the old cities of Europe - you know the ones that are steeped in history, the ones where the sewers used to run down the middle of the street and where all of the houses are leaning up against each other.

OR how about wandering through the South where the historic buildings stand... you know the ones that actually watched the war between the states happen right in front of their doors.

I would love to see the pyramids... can you imagine hauling huge stones up that high?
How about the Pantheon or any other old building near Rome? Can you imagine what stories those buildings would tell if they could talk?

And then there are those sites closer to home... ever been to Big Sur? Most breathtaking view ... ever!

So now that my mind has finished wandering to all these spots I will probably never see I'd love to wander over to your blog and read your post....and please leave me a comment.... better yet... do both!!

Happy Pondering

  1. I can wander anywhere. I would love to wander through the fjords of Iceland, the Amazon river basin and the spine of Africa.

  2. It is great to be able to wander through all those wonderful places if only in our minds.

  4. Not that I wouldn't love to wander over the hills and far away; stopping for rest by a peaceful waterfall, or to catch an ocean breeze: I fear I took some "poetic license" with the prompt today. :)

  6. You know, I am the same way. The beach is definitely my happy place, but I so seldom get there. Lake Erie will do in a pinch, but it's not the ocean.

    1. I remember someone once telling me that if you felt depressed or lonely... start digging and put your hands in dirt. It would instantly ground you....wonder if that means the ocean will instantly soothe you?

  7. Better late than never, mine is finally posted! Today's weather proved the perfect inspiration for a journey of the mind. Every place you mentioned above is somewhere I'd love to visit, and I was thinking how wonderful it would be if each month we could magically transport ourselves and a loved-one or friend to someplace we've never been before to wander and experience! Great prompt and great post, Brenda!
