Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!
I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.
The rules are really easy:
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!
This Week's prompt: Getting Away?
Everyone dreams of getting away... don't they?
Where do you wish to get away to... or from?
It is funny because my day trips used to be to ... well... exactly where I live.
I love going to the tide pools and just walking along the beach. Now that I live here I don't do as much as I used to. My first year in this house I went to the cliffs every single night... but then life took over... so maybe I need to start remembering what it felt like NOT to live here and go down to the cliffs more often.
I also always take a mini vacation when I slip into a hot bubble bath... another thing that has been missing for a while... perhaps because it's been so DARN HOT????
When I was younger a night on the town was always a great way to get away... but not so much anymore. I feel so much more comfortable wrapped up in PJs and staying home... geeessssshhhhh... does that mean I am getting old?
Someday I really want to go back to Alaska. I fell in love with it the first time... wonder if it will still hold the 'magic'? I also would like to travel in Europe... now that I've become an international flyer it's not that big of a deal. A long flight.. but well worth it if you can spend the time over there. Michelle and I keep talking about when I take her back to Germany for us to sight see too... the problem is everytime I go to Germany it is a Mommy mission... not a vacation and I can't be away from home that long!
Oh well... I suppose that is what retirement is for!!
How about you? How do you get away? Or do you wish for further destinations that you can reach in a day?
I'd love to read your comment, or your blog post... or better yet both!
Happy Pondering.

I feel the same way about the mountains, we use to drive up here and just love the drive and enjoy so many wonderful things close to where we end up buying our home now the drive gets so hard and we have yet to explore as much as we did when we lived an hour away. I loved Europe but it is better in small doses I stayed a month and I was ready to come home after 10 days I felt I could only see so many beautiful churches and castles but I was with crappy company too. i miss the hot tub due to the heat! Headed back to write my post and link up :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't that funny how we move to where we want to be and then stop enjoying it?
DeleteI was in scandinavia for 14 days and was with crappy company too... would love to go back some day
I really want to go to Alaska too. There is something about the arctic environment that draws me to it. Once again, thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteI think the air is cleaner up there!
DeleteI would love to see Alaska. I've heard that its beautiful but I don't imagine I'll ever get there - too many other places that are higher on my list - like England (and I WILL get there).
ReplyDeleteI have NO doubts that you will get to England!
DeleteHi Brenda! This was a great prompt! My story is about the desire of someone young to get away from home... a desire many of us had at that age. Hope you enjoy it! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Josie...I loved that story!
DeleteI grew up on Lake Ontario, and that was always where I would go for long walks when I needed some restoration. Now that I have moved, I don't have that awesome waterfront, but we do have a river and it's almost as good. I think it's more about just being out in Nature and shutting the sounds of "everyday." Although, mommy would not mind at all getting out for an entire day to just.....gosh, what would I do? wander. I'd love to just wander awhile. and ponder. just a little. :)
ReplyDeletewander and ponder... might be a good prompt you think?
DeleteWe try to take long weekends or mini-vacations whenever work and budget will allow, Brenda. We'd love to go to Alaska someday, but first on our wish list is the California Redwoods! I'm like you, quite happy curled up at home with Papa Bear and our furkids... our "getaway" is a soak in the hot tub on the deck before bed. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat soak sounds like the best getaway idea I've heard all day!
DeleteBrenda, you really should go sight seeing when you have the chance. There's so much to see in Germany/Europe... you don't have to run all over right where you are should be just fine. Also, I love little getaways... we do a lot of those with the kids. Hubby and I are talking about all the "adult trips" we are going to take when the kids are out of the house. First on my list is the Pacific Northwest. But I also want to see northern Cali.
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean. I live in a beautiful city where I can be a tourist every day and see something new. The novelty has completely worn off and I take it for granted. I need to take a step back and get away locally every once in a while and just CHILL OUT! Especially since I've been so crazy busy.
