Pondering with a Purpose - Legacy

Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
Think on Thursday
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your blog - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!

I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt: Legacy
What is it that you want to be remembered for... and don't tell me you haven't thought about that!!!

I think all of us think about this... what is the difference we wish to make while we are here?
I really had NO clue until Jared (my oldest) was born... and I was 29 years old when that happened... and as soon as he was put into my arms I knew what my purpose was... I was born to be a mother... a mother SO much better than the one I was given. And the next 15 plus years was spent in doing everything... and I do mean EVERYTHING possible to make sure that my children did not have the childhood that I had and that they knew they were loved... NO matter what!!!

But then something happened! They grew up and didn't need me as much anymore. That is when I started writing.... and I discovered that was really my purpose in life.. to share stories of absolutely horrific things and have people read them. To be perfectly honest with all of you... I never expected people to read my books... silly ... .huh???

So now... I think that my legacy should be raising great kids... and I have already seen that they have become SO much more than I ever hoped to be... they are happy!!!! AND being the vessel that enables people to see the much darker side of people.  I sure hope that does some good someday and that I am still alive to see it!!!!!

How about you? What do you want your legacy to be?

I would love to hear your comments, or read your post that is linked up... or better yet both!

  1. Brenda some of these prompts have just been so difficult for me to get into with everything I am going thru medically, so I am again going to pass writing on Legacy because honestly I haven't a clue and I so don't want to come off "whoa is me" I know I want to have children with faith no matter what and that they were loved. I am just blank right now :[

  5. Kids are a great legacy and unless you've discovered the cure for a terrible disease or changed the course of human history...they are about the only lasting legacy we leave behind.

  6. I love that you know what your legacy will be...I am not sure what mine will be or even should be...I think I would like it to be knowing that I enabled the kids I taught to love reading!

  8. Awesome topic Brenda - leaving a legacy is something I think about all the time! I don't know specifically what it is that I want to do - but I know I want to impact the world for God in a big way! :-)
