Pondering with a Purpose - Extremes

Think on ThursdayWelcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your blog - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!

I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt: Extremes

As this week has unfolded I have thought a lot about what extremes we are willing to do for those we love.  A very good friend of mine lost someone that was near and dear to their heart and that just reinforced in me the need to write this post......

What is it that you are willing to do for those you love? What extremes are you willing to go through.... Oh yes, I know so well the saying, "I would die for you." But would you???? Seriously... would you put yourself in harms way for those you love..... I think that when push comes to shove (who comes up with these sayings?) it just wouldn't happen.....
I happen to have a great love for my dogs... yes, I included my daughter's dog in that "plural version of dogs".. but the absolute truth is that I would not lay down my life for my dogs.... but my children??? well,..... that is a completely differ story....,. it would be nothing... and I do mean nothing... for me to give my life for theirs..... so as much as we say that we love our pets as much as our children...do we really???

that is not the reason for this post.....

As you read this... I will either be in the air, or in an airport, or .... waiting to arrive to see my daughter......
AND I cannot tell you how many people have  said to me, "She's 20, why does she need you?" and the simple answer is this... she asked and told me she needed me... so I flew across the world to help.

So seriously now, what extremes would you go through to help those you love?  Obviously my answer is fairly clear... I would (and am) fly across the world for them.... and back!

AND then the question beckons.... would they do the same for you??

I would love to hear your comments, or read your post that is linked up... or better yet both!
(Please accept my apologies as I will be unavailable to reply!)

HAPPY PONDERING!!!!

  1. Thats how I feel if they ask how can I not help and be there? I wasn't in any frame of mind Sunday to drive over an hour away but my daughter needed me so I got in my car in the jammies and drove down to her place to watch her lil guy while they went to the movies and he slept, YES it was worth it.
Safe Travels Brenda you're a GREAT mom!!!

  3. Have a safe trip. Would my children do anything for me? I am reminded of a Mother's day card that my son made for me when he was in 7th grade he wrote "Mom, I would do anything for you if I'm not busy"

    1. OH that is sooo funny. I wonder if the trickle down theory works here where we would do anything for our kids and they in turn for their own.
I do know that you don't appreciate your own parents until you become one

  4. First time over here. I read about your pondering idea on Wayne's blog.
People do things above and beyond (yeah who does create these expressions) for love. Love of family, love of country, love of an idea. Love of money probably plays a part too for some but that often doesn't turn out well in the end.
Forgiveness is another big part of love too.

    1. Welcome Bill! And I agree with you... foregiveness... another extreme sometimes.... when you can overlook something that has cut deeply....

  5. I think it's awesome that you flew to see her! When I decided to move to SC, my dad flew to NY to ride with me back here. My dad has also flown to NY to help my sister with things around her house. Parents are pretty awesome people. :)

Since I don't have kids, my pup is my kid, and I do believe I would jump in front of a car to save her. In fact I have run after her into the street, not at all paying attention to whether a car was coming. She's my baby, at least for now!

    1. I agree with you.... parents are awesome people (well some of them are anyway :) )
and I do the same things for my furr babies..... only difference with them is that you can leave them behind when you go on a trip and you can't do that with human babies.

    2. So very true! But if I go to Connecticut for Christmas this year, Daisy is coming with me! Can't leave my baby on Christmas. I already feel horrible I can't take the cats but I asked and unfortunately my sister is too allergic to tolerate that. My poor babies.

I am tempted to do that "what kind of flower" quiz you have on your side bar, but I have a feeling it's going to say I'm a dead flower!

    3. I took Muttley with me on a trip --- ONCE!
After the hotel got complaints about her barking I decided it was best to leave her home.... but after coming home to TWO dogs that destroyed my house this time...I'm beginning to think I will never leave again!

And you are NOT A DEAD FLOWER!!! Take the quiz.... you don't have to post it! But let me know what you are.
