Pondering with a Purpose - Staring

Think on ThursdayWelcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your blog - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!

I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt: Staring
When you stare off into the distance... what is it that you are thinking about?
AND do you only stare off when you are really tired?

Me? Well I find that it really depends on what is going on around me.... I LOVE to stare out of my kitchen window... not that it is the greatest view or anything...

I just have this need to stand over my kitchen sink and stare off into the distance... do you think I am thinking of what could have been?   Maybe!

Or perhaps I am counting my blessings as I look into my tiny little back yard and realize that I have a roof over my head, food on the table, a job and children that (I think) love me!

I have the opportunity to drive by the Pacific Ocean everyday on my way home from work....
I can pick up a phone and call ANYone I want at any time of the day!
and.... to be openly honest about it... I don't have many things to complain about... so perhaps I DO just stare out of the window when I am really tired and my mind needs a break!

How about you?
When and what do you stare about?

I would love to hear your comments, or read your post that is linked up... or better yet both!

HAPPY PONDERING!!!!

  1. Most of the time when I stare, especially at the beach, I allow my mind to go blank... and it is nice...

    1. LOL... it is amazing how our mind just runs rampant and we have no idea what we're thinking about!

  4. I don't think my mind is ever "blank" although it might be nice if it was once in a while. Often, if I seem to be staring off into space, I'm trying to work something out for myself.

  5. normally.....I am trying to remember why I came running up the stairs, or from one room to the other....because I have completely forgotten what I came there for in the first place!! I blame it on the mama brain, which I pray is a temporary affliction.

I could stare at my garden for hours....and Wordsworth, Thoreau, Burns and Frost filter through my head.

    mostly, though...um yeah....blank.
let's say canvas though so I sound appropriately artistic :)

    1. LOL... I do the exact same things and I just blame it on there is too much in my brain and I have to bring the current thought to the front. I've gotten to the point where I talk out loud as I go upstairs to get something so I don't forget... of course, I pretend like I'm talking to the dogs :)
