Pondering with a Purpose - Punishments

Think on ThursdayWelcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your blog - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!

I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.

The rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt is:                          Punishment???

What do YOU do when those you love do something wrong?

I came home from work only to find that these lovely dogs had gotten into the cupboard and grabbed the box of doggie treats --- all that was left were shreds of cardboard. I immediately knew something was wrong when I was greeted by this:

It did not make matters any better to find the older one cowering on the couch....

BUT what do I do?
I had a hard time from laughing... but I would assume that eating a WHOLE box of dog biscuits is not very healthy for a dog! (and let us hope that they shared them!)

Of course, I picked up the pieces and wagged them at them.....
this is the reaction I received.....

I know everyone one of my readers has come across a situation where someone you love, you care for, you discipline, has done something terribly wrong......

How do you punish them?

I would love to hear your responses... a comment, a post that is linked up.. or better yet.. BOTH!

Happy Pondering!

  1. LOL with the dogs and their treats; I wonder if they had tummy aches :)

We always tried to have the punishment fit the crime so to speak. Son was late coming up with curfew, we moved his curfew up how many minutes he was late for a bit; that sort of thing. We didn't try to make it too unrealistic or unreasonable; we tried to have them learn through their wrong doings and make it a bit painful but realistic. Sure glad those days are over, LOL :)

  2. Our older dog has this way of curling his lip in a distorted smile when we get home & he has done something wrong he tells on himself all the time. Dogs I say are tougher to raise then children but with the same rewards of unconditonal love :} I have a few punishments that I dealt with in the older kids I am going to have to think on this one for a minute before I write my post. Thanks for hosting I love Pondering with you!!

  6. Having pets, kids, and grandkids I am constantly faced with issues that require a response. Dogs are the easiest, they are so much more transparent.

  8. Oh my. I have had similar issues with my pooches and I heard that you can't really punish them unless you catch them in the act. Of course, I would wag the pieces at them too and give them a stern talking too!!!

    1. I've heard the same thing... when you say 'no' and they don't what they did it confuses them.
