The waitress placed the check on
the table and Scott reached into his pocket and pulled out a full money clip.
He peeled off a one hundred dollar bill and put it on the tray. Looking at
Diane he asked, “You ready?”
Diane nodded. She just saw someone
pay more for dinner than she budgeted for food for two weeks. She had no idea
it was going to be that expensive. “I’m really sorry,” she said.
Puzzled he asked, “For what?”
“I had no idea it would be that
expensive.”
Smiling he responded, “Not a
problem, I did.”
She stood up and he ushered her
through the front door. “Should I take you back to your car?” She looked up at
him as he was clearly over six foot two and towered over her she just smiled. “Or
would you prefer to walk around for a bit?”
“That would be nice,” she said.
He put his arm around her
shoulders and they walked through the tiny shopping mall. She kept thinking that
this could not possibly be happening to her. He was such a nice guy. After
thirty minutes of walking they had managed to make it back to his car. He held
the door open for her to get in. When he had settled himself in the driver’s
seat he said, “I’ll take you back to your car.”
“Okay,” she said, and they drove
in silence.
Pulling up next to her tattered
old Volvo, he got out and raced around to help her out of her seat. She fumbled
for her keys and unlocked her door. “Thank you for coming to meet me,” He said.
“I really enjoyed your company.”
She responded, “I had a very nice
time, thank you.”
He leaned over to kiss her.
Electricity soared throughout her
entire body as their lips touched. He had placed his arms around her waist and
she wrapped her arms around his neck. It felt as if that kiss lasted forever. She
opened her eyes and looked into his. “I’m really glad we met,” she said.
“Me too,” he responded. “Can I
call you again?”
“Yes,” she answered softly as he
came back in for another kiss.
“I really hate to see this night
end,” he whispered in her ear.
“Me too,” she said, “but I need to
get home to the sitter.”
“Okay.”
He closed her car door as she
settled in. She tried to put the key in the ignition but had to consciously stop
her hand from shaking. Scott’s kiss had sent wild sensations throughout her
body and had awakened something within her she didn’t even know existed.
Glancing towards his car she saw him get into the driver’s seat and put his key
in the ignition. She started her car and drove away.
