Mondays Musings - MAN it was windy!

It was a dark, stormy, windy afternoon...
OH wait a minute, I'm not writing a book... I'm writing about my weekend. Tee hee hee....

Saturday: It was a dark, stormy windy morning that had me out on the streets of Los Angeles feeding the homeless even though it was pouring!! The strangest thing is that we would get a torrent of rain and then it would drizzle. The heavy stuff did not last that long, but the wind... that was ferocious. We opened the door to the van to get the food and rain came flying in (literally flying in!) But... I am not complaining.... I have a place to go home to when I was done... and I did. I dried myself off and settled down on my couch to write... and I lit the fireplace to warm up my house...

BUT someone wanted to go for a walk...

I put her leash on her and opened the front door and she came to a screeching halt! It was wet outside.... doesn't it make you wonder if they realize that the backyard and the front yard are both outside???  We managed to get a mile in before it started to rain again.... luckily it was just light rain.

I was so glad the house was already warm!!

I settled myself back down to write and then ended up having a VERY long conversation with someone (:) happy) and lost complete track of the time.... During that time the sky cleared up....

I woke up in the middle of the night to hear the bulk of the storm pass through...

Then Sunday it was SOOO windy.... Although we managed to get in a three mile walk, my head was down and my hood was up!! I lost power in the house four different times and gave up resetting the clocks! BUT... between outages I managed to make really good headway on Cracked Cocoon... and if you missed the post about Ferry Tails make sure you go check it out!

I also squeezed in a pot of homemade soup and southern fried chicken......

I love horrible weather!!

How was your weekend?

  1. A fairly quiet 3-day weekend. Not so much fog, but lots of fog. I live by the riverside, so it made for an eerie moment, by day and by night. Sunday was so hot, it was like summer, even if it is still winter here. I went to the St Patrick's parade and it was fun. Not much else to report. Oh! and I finally watched "The Help". Great movie!!

    1. How did you end up with a 3 day weekend? I want in!
I live a block from the water and we get fog too... my favorite sound is the fog horns off the coast. There is this huge lighthouse about 2 miles from house!

Ii was not all that impressed with "The Help" - I watched it while I was in Germany and I sort of walked away from it thinking it was good... but not great!

  2. I love your fireplace... And Mutley reminds me of my dog.. She never liked to go out in the rain. My mom and I would walk holding an umbrella over her head as we got dreached.. canine love....

  3. Your fireplace looks so . . . comfortable (for lack of a better word). I'm afraid I'd have it on all the time!

  5. Last time we had rain my Yorkie refused to go outside when we had a short dry spell. She dug in her heels like no tomorrow. It was crazy funny. And I second Hilary. I love your fireplace!!! And the blue walls. I think, I would feel very comfortable in your home!!! :) Oh, and I love a nice stormy day here and there, too.

And I do strive to make my home comfortable...otherwise it is just a house :)
