Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose -
This is my weekly hop where I post a prompt and you get to write to it on your blog - come back here and add it to my linky and then we all get to go read what you wrote!I started Pondering with a Purpose because -- simply put -- I am a writer - - that is what I do (I just can't help myself)! And although I love following all the hops, I wanted to see if I could bring out some creativity in not only myself, but some of my blogger friends as well.
The rules are really easy:
1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in my sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Come back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list below.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!
This Week's prompt is: Travel
What is your favorite mode of travel?

I have traveled on a train, a bus, a plane, a boat, and of course in a car and a motor home and I would have to say my favorite way to travel and take a vacation is to cruise. It is like taking your hotel with you! I will never forget how excited I was the first time I went on a cruise. It was in 2003. It was a three day cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. My mom took the whole family. We had so much fun that two and a half years later we all went for a week to Alaska - that was in August 2006. I decided then and there that I was going to move to Alaska! Of course it was August and I was staying on a ship! One year later I took my kids to Hawaii, we flew to Honolulu and island hopped - well the ship island hopped - and we were able to use the ship as a floating hotel. It was a great way to see Hawaii and not have to pay the exorbitant hotel and food rates as all the food is included on the ship. The next year I went to the Caribbean and that was not the best trip - and that was the end of the cruising excursions for my family as the kids have since moved on to greener pastures..... BUT I still believe that this is the best way to travel. You get to see exotic locations, eat great food, have decent accomodations - it's not the ritz! There is daily and nightly entertainment and it is a great value for your money. I would also have to believe that now in light of this latest misshap this business will be issuing some great discounts!
So... how about you? What's your favorite mode of travel?
I'd love it if you wrote a post and linked up... but if not, write a comment... or better yet... do both!
Happy Pondering!

ReplyDeleteHi.... link is up now!
DeleteLikewise
ReplyDeletelink is up now!
DeleteI've got a cruise booked to the Caribbean for next January. With all the cruises under your belt, I'm curious why you feel that the Caribbean cruise wasn't the best???
ReplyDeleteStill no link. ;-)
link is up now...
DeleteI think the Caribbean cruise did not spend enough time on any of the islands... the ship I was on was one of the oldest in the fleet for Norwegian. If that had been my first cruise ever,..... it would have been my last cruise.
I would like to take a couple more cruises. They are so relaxing. But just being able to travel is wonderful
ReplyDeleteI agree whole heartedly!
DeleteWould love, love, love to whisk my honey away on a cruise. Hawaii, Alaska, Caribbean wouldn't matter. If they kids have to come along, I guess Disney Cruise it is - not so bad though - 2 word: Kid's Club! LOL
ReplyDeleteworking on my post - back to link up tomorrow (since this is supposed to be my bloggy day off.)
you should definitely do it!!! Give the kids to your mom!
Deletewe did a cruise last year..what fun!! this year a toss up between a lake house or a beach house..we will go with the most votes (out of 11) fun to even THINK about!!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the beach!!!!
DeleteI've never been on a cruise other than a 14 hour ferry cruise from Germany to Sweden. We took the car instead of flying. I would love to go an an Alaskan cruise one day but other than that I'm not to hot on the idea of being stuck on a ship. You made it sound pretty fun though... I used to love traveling by train.
ReplyDeleteTraveling by train is SO much different in Europe than it is here in the states. But I would prefer that over driving any day!
DeleteRoad trips!!M
ReplyDeleteI love them more than anything!!"
But only if I am not driving!!!
That is a great way to see the country!
DeleteYou went on a cruise! I have been on two of them! In 2002 and 2003 on Royal Caribbean, I enjoyed it, except for the second one where we passed through hurricane Cauldette. Actually that was kind of fun.... but, a little bit scary... I felt like I was on Titanic. Overall i'd say it was one of my funniest vacations, especially when we first got on the ship, oh and speaking of food there was free Pizza everyday! Yum! : )
ReplyDeleteYou sound like one of my sons! hee hee hee
