Tuesday Spotlight - Marsha's Spot

Welcome to Tuesday's Spotlight!

As I rambled through the blogosphere I have found some wonderful blogs and interesting people. I will be featuring them in the coming weeks.

Today we are going to turn the spotlight on Marsha of Marsha's Spot:

How long have you been blogging?  March 2008

How did you get started blogging?  I had been hearing of others earning through blogging.  I thought that if I started, I could do the same.  I started out with sharing my personal life of what I had done during the day and ended by sharing a new listing on ebay, a new squidoo lens built etc.

What is your favorite part about blogging?  For me now, it's all the great posts I have read over time.

What is your least favorite part about blogging?  When I can't figure out how to do something, or what I am trying to do doesn't come out right.

Have you learned anything about yourself from blogging?  I've learned that I can stick to something.  I did let the blog go for a little bit while I re-thought things, but haven't missed too many days along the way since starting it.

Do you find that blogging is relaxing or frustrating?  A little of both.

Can you give advice to anyone starting a new blog?  Be yourself, share what you love, and others who share the same will come.

Have you ever posted something and then regretted it?  I can't think of anything, but now you have me wondering.  LOL

How much time a week do you spend blogging?  Posting to my own blog takes up a lot of my time, especially when I am putting together a review and/or giveaway.   I spend equal or more time also reading blogs of others as well.

How many blogs do you own?  Just Marsha's Spot.  Some say I should build more, like one for each subject matter, but I like my "everything" blog the way it is.

Anything else?  Just to say thank you to all of you out there that truly do follow my blog.  My online friends the world to me.

I want to thank Marsha for taking the time to be "In the Spotlight" and I hope you have enjoyed getting to know her a little bit better. Take some time and look through her blog.  I hope you will find it as fascinating as I do...I honestly don't know how she does it all!

Mondays Musings - Memorial Day - 2011

Happy Memorial Day Monday to all!

Well I normally kick off my Mondays Musings with what happened over the weekend and I will do that but first I do want to take off my had and honor Memorial Day with a bit of home front news.....

Those who follow my blog on a regular basis or those of you who are new and want to go deep down into the dungeons will see that my daughter was married 5 months ago. She married a wonderful young man and he is in the United States Army.  And if you dig even further back into my blog you will see that my eldest nephew graduated from West Point two years ago this weekend and his sister is currently finishing her second year there.

Well my nephew is currently in Iraq.... and my son-in-law's duty station is just outside of Frankfurt, Germany --- which means my daughter will be leaving within the next 5 weeks for 3 years to be with her husband in Germany. My son-in-law leaves in the morning!

So.....onto Monday's musings - - - It is not often that the Saturday routine of preparation and handing out the food on the streets rocks me to the core, but this Saturday was very different. One of the women that is on our regular route had been beaten up pretty badly -- and I just don't go for that at all. When we had finished our route I went in the Brothers (Missionaries of Charities) home and made a few phone calls and then went back out on the street by myself. I sat and talked to Janet for quite a while and now she is afraid she is going to disappoint me.   Can you imagine someone who is out there with nothing is afraid she is going to disappoint me? There are times when I just wonder...... why?

Sunday was quiet - I am trying to set up a blog tour for Disrupted Lives --- if interested please check out last Thursday's blog.

Have a great week

Saturday Shop Hop - end of May

WOW...Where does the time go? It it Memorial Day weekend which means it is the last weekend in May - have we really gone through 5 months this year? I cannot believe it!

Saturday is my favorite day for a number of reasons...one of them is because I get to participate in Shop Hop Saturday with my good friend Ruthi from Poetic Creations by abitosunshine.
Shop Hop Saturday with abitosunshine

This weekly hop is for those of us who do business online and blog about it. So, if you have a business blog, hop along! We'll encourage, support, and promote each other. Whatever your business, whatever your shop, whatever your wares -- let's share!

Now I have a couple of business entities on line and although I try very hard to keep them separate , the lines often times get blurred.  The truth is that at the end of the day I am an author in my heart and no matter what else is going on that is where I stand....SO . . . . . that being said...I need to direct the attention to a blog that I posted....right here...earlier this week with my newest idea to promote my latest book Disrupted Lives. It is for a blog tour. Basically the idea is for 10 bloggers to sign on to get the book and post a review on a specific date. Then post that review to a linky on my site and then people can go and read the review - sort of an online book club.  So far I only have 2 bloggers,  I am looking for 8 more!

My other online venture is Reviews4reviews and I have to say that after a year and a half I am beginning to see that the word is beginning to spread. We have a couple of new authors and a couple of new book titles.

That about wraps it up for my Saturday Shop Hop....how about yours?

Friday Book Blogger Hop - Book to Movie

I love Fridays....not only because it is the last day of the work week and I get to spend the next two days writing, but because of the Book Blogger Hop. Today I get to hop over to some of my favorite blogs and check out their answers to the Book Blogger Hop. The Book Blogger Hop is held every Fridays and is thrown by Jen at Crazy for books ---- here are the rules:
Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read! So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!

The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don't have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun! This is a weekly event! And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added! She gets over 200 links every week!!

This week's question is:

"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked?  Which have you disliked?"

I did not have to think very long to come up with which on I disliked. I was so disappointed with My Sister's Keeper. Not only did not stay true to the story, it totally rewrote it! As an author I don't know how someone could live with that. The book had so much more depth and meaning the way it was written and the movie just lost so much of that!

The book to movie adaption that I liked the most would have to be Of Mice and Men (I know, ancient!) But even if you go back and read the book, the movie still holds to the story.

I can hardly wait to hop and see what my friends say!

Pondering with a Purpose - Originality

Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose - Thinking on a Thursday

This is a weekly hop that I started several months ago. The main idea behind Pondering with a Purpose is actually quite simple.

Think on Thursday
I am a writer - that is what I do.

Although I love blogging and hopping and following all the bloggers I found that I had not actually been writing a blog so I decided to create a hop where I would give a prompt and write about the prompt. My hope is that other bloggers would also write to the prompt and then add their blog to the linky list below and then hop to other sites and see how other people interpret that prompt.
Here are the previous prompts and blogs:
word Association
Beauty

Friends and Followers

How do you say Hello?
Interview
Juxtaposition

For this week's prompt I want to use Originality

I want your to write a post about something that you either have done or want to do that is original...it can even be something you have seen - that you liked that was original. For me.....well here goes:

I want to run a blog tour for Disrupted Lives: and this is what my idea is
I would like to have 10 different bloggers volunteer to write a review - I will send them a copy of the book. They must post their review on THE EXACT SAME DATE.  I will post a blog on that date with a linky list so the 10 bloggers can list their sites....then everyone can hop to the sites and read the reviews.....sort of like a book club!

So, what do you think?

WOW 100 Weekly Words - Spyder part 2

WOW WEEKLY 100 WORDS

It is Wednesday and my very good friend Ruthi at Ruthi Reads holds a weekly hop, the Weekly WOW of 100 words. No matter how hard I try to post this earlier in the day, it always seems to be the end of the by the time I get it posted....but hey, whose counting...Wednesday is Wednesday, right?

The weekly WOW of 100 words is where we talk about the books we are currently reading and share 100 words of that book so we can tantalize our followers and get them interested enough to maybe pick up the same book later.

I am still reading the same book I had introduced last week, Spyder by David Fingerman. It is a good book, but it is not one of those books that is keeping my so intrugued that I can't wait to get back to it each night.....I am only on page 73 and I have two new books from Free Press to read, so I think I am going to shelf Spyder and switch books...but here are 100 words from Spyder, pg 68:

Nicotine deprived, I tromped down the sidewalk looking for more Help Wanted signs. A couple of hours and three meaningless applications later, I stopped a ta small mom & pop store to buy a pack of smokes. While there, I asked the old man behind the counter if he needed any help. No sign hung in the window, but I figured what the hell.
He had no neck that I could see, just a meaty head plopped onto a big and stocky body. He wore a crew-cut, and had a crease running across his forehead. I couldn’t tell if it…..

So, what are you reading?

Tuesdays Spotlight - Such Fun to Give

Welcome to Tuesday's Spotlight!

As I rambled through the blogosphere I have found some wonderful blogs and interesting people. I will be featuring them in the coming weeks.

Today I would like to introduce Gale Langley. I found her blog suchfuntogive.blogspot and what grabbed my attention was not so much the links to the give aways around the internet but was the information about doing good in the world and the charitable activities. I instantly became a fan and follower.  I hope you will too!

Gale, can you tell me what prompted you to start this blog?

I had been entering blog giveaways since stumbling on a blog event called the Bloggy Giveaways about a year before starting the blog. It got me thinking how giveaways could be good ways to spread the word about causes.

Then the CPSIA had been passed and some of the ways that it was hurting small businesses were coming to light. I decided this was the time to start the blog I had been thinking about...one where I could post giveaways to build awareness for causes I cared about, post about ways to give back, and also be a place I could post about other giveaways I wanted to enter and get some extra entries (yeah, there was that selfish aspect too.) So, this blog is an odd mix of selfishness and selflessness--of getting and giving back. Mostly it's become a place to post low entry blog giveaways, giveaways supporting good causes, and to share about ways to give back and do something to help make our world a little better.

And what have you found to be the most difficult part of keeping this blog alive?

Wondering if I should keep it alive. Funny thing is, I started winning a lot of blog giveaways because I figured out how to find giveaways which few people had entered. But I realized that entering all these, while worth my time for the amount I was winning, was causing me to have a very material focus. Giveaways are meant to advertise (generally) and the advertising was working...I was wanting stuff that I really didn't need. I had to take a break for a while and seriously considered shutting the blog down.

And what has been the most rewarding part of keeping this blog alive?
Other than the physically rewarding stuff (which has it's good and bad side, as I mentioned) I think the feedback I've gotten has been the most rewarding.

What has changed inside you since starting?
Other than the struggle with materialism? Some things have changed, but not really because of the blog, really.

Have you discovered any new 'loves'?
Yes! Fair trade products! I always liked the idea of fair trade, but when I discovered how much of the products we buy are produced, at least in part, with slave labor (and I don't just mean poor wages...I mean actual slavery), it made the idea of fair trade so much more important. I mean, it's one thing to buy something that was produced by poorly paid workers...it's another thing in my mind if the product was produced using slaves (not that any company actual goes out and tries to court slave labor, but they go with the lowest bidder and don't check to see what their suppliers are doing, and so slavery happens). I can't say I buy everything fair trade...I can't afford to right now, and even if I could some things just aren't available as fair trade items. But I've been looking for ways to use more fair trade items to support these companies that are checking their supply chain and trying to pay fair wages all down the line.

Have you found that some people cannot get on board with you?
Like the people who submit "low entry" giveaways a month in advance when I specifically ask them to only submit them in they end in 5 days or less?

As far as the causes that I talk about on the blog...there's no way to know who "gets on board" unless they comment, and people don't usually comment to say they're not going to do something. And I wouldn't expect peopel to latch on to every cause that I talk about. Some things will hit some people's heart and lead them to do something, and that's what I hope for.

Has that astonished you or were you certain at the beginning that was going to happen?
No, not astonished at all.

Have you found that some people have actually stepped up to plate and shone through in ways you never thought possible?
Yes. Ivy Twines took up the slavery issue for their monthly give-back after I suggested it, and did just an incredible job. I was really moved by that.

And have others let you down?
No, not really...though I wished that the Give Back at Ivy Twines had gotten more response.

Do you have new pet projects you never knew existed?
Well, up until a few years ago I really thought slavery died with the Civil War...then the past couple years I've learned that it is actually more rampant today than it was then, so that's become my "pet project" I suppose. Haven't done a much yet, really, but I have ideas and some plans to do more.

Mondays Musings - May 23, 2011

Happy Monday all...and I hope the weather in your area is treating you well. My heart goes out to those who were hit be the string of tornadoes. Being from California I have no idea what that must be like. My version of a tornado is everything I've seen from The Wizard of Oz..and I'm sure that is nothing close to reality.

My weekend was so eventful.....I spent Saturday with the Brothers at The Missionaries of Charity - I always enjoy spending time with Ben - he is truly one of my closest friends! We went and saw all of our 'people' and they were happy to see us, as we were them. It just puts an extra skip in step when I go....

Sunday was a quiet day of writing and cleaning the house --- and it needed it. Oh yes and of course a walk to the park with the dog!

How was your weekend?

Have a great week and make sure to watch for Tuesday's spotlight --- it is a good one!

Saturday Shop Hop - May 21

Happy Saturday to all and I hope the weather is treating everyone better today! I know here in Southern California the temperatures are mild and the weather is relatively good. I hope the flood levels are semi-manageable in the delta areas and the tornado watches have fallen off a bit in other areas. One of my favorite things to do on Saturday is participate in Shop Hop Saturday with my good friend Ruthi from Poetic Creations by abitosunshine.
Shop Hop Saturday with abitosunshine

This weekly hop is for those of us who do business online and blog about it. So, if you have a business blog, hop along! We'll encourage, support, and promote each other. Whatever your business, whatever your shop, whatever your wares -- let's share!

Although I have been remiss in the past couple of weeks I am here today and that is all that really matters. I have a few pieces of business to tend to so I will jump right in:

First: My online review site: Reviews4Reviews

WELL   - I am not sure HOW but we are on a website for Independent published authors and have gotten quite a few new authors to sign up along with their books.  If you are unfamiliar with our site, it is a site where authors register themselves and their books and then swap books and write reviews --- who better to write a review than an author? Since the beginning of May we have 3 new authors!

Second: My book business:

Disrupted Lives was officially released April 11, 2011. I have already had one virtual blog tour and am in the middle of setting up another blog tour. I just set up my website  to take orders for not only this book, but the other 5 as well, for a reduced price, with an autograph.

We are all trying to do our best in a crazy world.....I hope your business is a success!

This week's question is:

"If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?"
Finally, a question I don't even have to think about! Easy ---- Tara from Gone with the Wind. I know..I know, why would anyone want to go back to the Civil War - especailly the South and enter a world that is in the middle of disarray and despair? Simple answer - because it was beatiful! and because it truly was time when the human spirit shone through. Can you imagine a better time in history to define a person? I can't!

I can hardly wait to read your answer!

Pondering with a Purpose - Nature

Welcome to Pondering with a Purpose - Thinking on a Thursday

This is a weekly hop that I started several months ago. The main idea behind Pondering with a Purpose is actually quite simple.

I am a writer - that is what I do.

For this week's prompt I want to use Nature
I want you to write about your favorite part of nature and what it means to you, or how it makes you feel. You don't have to get overwhelmed by this post - it can be as simple or complex as you want to make it. After you have written the post on your blog, add it to the linky below and let everyone else see what part of nature is your favorite!

There is something about a sunset over the ocean that absolutely calms my very essence. Actually I believe it is the ocean itself. I can just hear the waves crashing and all the stress leaves my body. The smell of the ocean, the salt in the air, the sound of the surf crashing along the shore. Now ... please don't mistake that for an, "I love to go surfing, or I love to swim in the ocean." Because I emphatically do not! I was taught how to swim in the ocean and I am a very good swimmer, but I refuse --- with a capital R to swim in the ocean ever again in my life unless it is a matter of life or death!
To choose one aspect of nature, however, I would have to, hands down, select the ocean!
What's your choice?

WOW 100 Weekly Words - The Spyder Edition

WOW WEEKLY 100 WORDS

It is Wednesday and my very good friend Ruthi at Ruthi Reads holds a weekly hop, the Weekly WOW of 100 words. No matter how hard I try to post this earlier in the day, it always seems to be the end of the by the time I get it posted....but hey, whose counting...Wednesday is Wednesday, right?

The weekly WOW of 100 words is where we talk about the books we are currently reading and share 100 words of that book so we can tantalize our followers and get them interested enough to maybe pick up the same book later.

I am actually reading a book that I bought. Spyder by David Fingerman. I have been a member of Gather.com for quite awhile and have seen snippets of his work. I have read quite a few reviews from his books and he writes mostly gruesome horror stories. His latest venture, Spyder, is not horror and when I caught an excerpt of it I was intrigued enough to buy a copy.

I had an appointment today where I knew I would be waiting so I took the book with me. I have read the first 50 pages and I will reserve judgement for a few more pages....but I will share 100 words from page 6 which is from Chapter 1:

At the stoplight I saw Squeegee Sam mucking up some turd’s windshield. He saw me and limped back to the cub while mumbling what I assumed were obscenities. I’d given him that limp after he didn’t believe me when I asked him nicely to keep his fucking grubs off the car. It’s not like he had a career as an athlete looming ahead, or any career for that matter. I’m sure I did him a favor. We’ve had a very cordial relationship since that time. New he stays away from my car and I don’t run over his sorry ass.

What are you reading?

Tuesday Spotlight

I had every intention of starting my weekly blog spotlight this week.....but ...... it didn't work out that way. So instead I have something just as good! (And believe me....this really is just as good!)

If you are like me --- and I think alot of bloggers are.... we really don't socialize much in the 'real' world. WE are so wrapped up in our lives with our families and our jobs and the things that we need to get done on a daily basis that socializing outside of the necessities becomes literally non-existent.  I mean seriously -- when was the last time you actually made a new friend.  AND I don't mean a friend on Facebook, or Google Friend Connect or on Blogger! I mean a real life, living friend that you could go get a drink with (sorry all you teenagers) or grab a cup of coffee with, or see a movie, or just talk to?

Let me tell you a story - and unlike my books...this is NON-FICTION.......

I was called for jury duty and I went . . . . .  and the most amazing thing happened to me! I made new friends! I actually feel like a kid again. I don't remember the last time I made a new friend. And there is something about these women that makes me think that we REALLY are going to be friends. It's not one of those things that we said we'd get together and we swapped phone numbers and email addresses and then it would fall to the wayside. I really feel like we WILL get together and WE WILL stay in touch.  Anyone who has read my books or followed my blog long enough knows that I truly believe that everything happens for a reason....and today was not by coincidence and those women were there and we met --- and there was a reason.

So.....without further ado...... I would like to shine the spotlight on my NEW FRIENDS.....
Julianne Kiehlo     Mary White    Annette Holt

And you can expect to hear lots and lots of stories in the future of our adventures!

So until my next Tuesday spotlight....have a great week!

Long Drive Home by Will Allison - A book review

I belong to a group on Book Blogs called: Free Press's group "Free Press Blog Tours" on Book Blogs. It is quite simple actually - all you have to do is join the group and request the book they are offering and post your review on the EXACT date they specify. Then go back to the group and post a link to your blog. That way we can all go around and read each other's review and hopefully Free Press will read the review --- If I was the author I would go read the review and post comments. I have actually done this for several months and have had the chance to read some extraordinary books that I would have otherwise probably not have heard of.

Now, being an author I LOVE to read other books because I enjoy seeing how other authors work. Long Drive Home was no exception. This book started off with a **BANG ** and I am not actually using that figuratively here - it really grabbed the reader's attention from the very first sentence. Will Allison had his character writing a letter to his daughter explaining what his motivations were - or something --- honestly I'm not quite sure, because as the book unfolded the letter became less clear and the motivations for writing the letter became less clear.

The book jacket describes the tragedy that Glen Bauer is - I guess - trying to hide, but who is he trying to hide it from? Himself? His wife -- who was never fooled, by the way -- or his six year old daughter - who witnessed the whole event?  Again....this is not a spoiler as it is on the jacket.

Long Drive Home started off so well, but I felt that it lacked the ability to stay at that level throughout the entire book. I found myself skimming through it trying to find out what Glen Bauer was trying to say and do....and honestly even when it was finished I'm still left with that question . . .  what was the point of the letter?

Will Allison does a fantastic job of describing situations involving confused children, parents breaking up and what that does to children and the alienation of children. Such a good job that it almost sounds personal. It made me, the reader, want to reach in and shake some sense into Liz Bauer and tell her she was destroying her own daughter.... but of course, she knew the truth and could not get her husband to admit it. And then there is always the 'mommy protection gene' that outweighs everything else.

I'm not sure if I would recommend this book or not....probably a 2.5 out of 5

Mondays Musings

Hap . hap..happy Monday!!!
I cannot believe that May is half over - - wow time really flies.... Yesterday marked twenty two years of motherhood for me! And I still remember the day it happened like it was yesteday...Even though I remember most of the days in between too.. hmmmmmm.....where to start with the musings?
For my regular followers you will see a vast gap in posts from Thursday until today -- that was intentionally done because I have been busily scouting around on my very first ever VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR!

First a huge Thank you to Cynthia from The Wytch's Mirror she put the whole thing together and I had so much fun! You can catch the last stop on the tour at her blog today. But if you are interested in any of the other stops check them out as well. There is a free book being given away on each of the stops .... oh yeah the book is Disrupted Lives!

Second.... I am so busy between promoting Disrupted Lives and writing Skewered Halo that time is just whizzing by...but I am going to start a new feature on this site and I would love to get some feedback. I want to start spot lighting a blog - well actually the owner of the blog - on Tuesdays - and talk about why/how they do what they do.....so what do you think?

Third.... well, there is no third...have a great week and I'll pass you on the blogsphere!

For this weeks prompt I would like to tackle:
Making a Difference
This can be something that you see being done around you, or something you admire someone else doing, or something that you yourself do as a part of your life. It doesn't necessarily have to be anything huge, just something that other people might take notice of. Go ahead and write a blog about it and grab the linky at the bottom of this post so all our followers will read it!

For me, I am involved with The Missionaries of Charity - or officially 'Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity.  They are a Catholic organization that are involved with the poorest of poor. I work very closely with a group of brothers in downtown Los Angeles and work with their street ministry program that feeds the homeless. I started this work when I was doing research for my fourth novel, Sorrowed Souls. I quickly realized that research was  NOT what I was doing and that I had found a new calling. I have been going every week for almost three years. Not only is most humbling, but it is actually the most rewarding thing I have ever done. The people who live on the streets are truly unique and I am enriched by knowing them. I would have to say that my doing this has made a huge difference in my life!

I hope to see how your lives have been made different!

Book Review - There's Something Wrong With Jackie

There Is Something Wrong with Jackie by Deanna Lee Warren weaves a tale of abuse, abandonment, victimization and bravery. Lee London is brutally attacked when she is a teenager and blocks that memory for years only to have recurring nightmares that haunt her sleep. The psychopath that attacked her has preyed on many helpless girls and women and yet he seems to evade capture effortlessly.

Ms. Warren crafts a fast-moving narrative that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, turning page after page hoping for a positive outcome. She beautifully describes familial love and understanding, as well as emotionally unavailable family members. There are no stones left unturned in this book. Rape, torture and abuse are all there and the aftermath and healing process are discussed as well.

Deanna Lee Warren is a master story teller and the reader will have a difficult time putting the book down until the last page is turned.

Mondays Musings May 9, 11 Mother's Day Edition

Today's Monday's musings is all about the future and not the past.....rather ironic. I know!
I normally post a Monday Musings about what I have done over the past weekend and what my plans are for the coming week --- but not this week.  - - -  Well - sort of

This weekend was Mother's Day and I do sincerely want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers that follow this blog. To me, there is no higher calling that of a mother. The most selfless act on this earth. The ones who give without asking, the ones who are there without hesitation and the one who will do almost anything without raising an eyebrow. My hat is off to all of us who call ourselves mothers!

Now - - my past week has actually been one I can put down in the record  books as 'the week from hell'
Not to complain - because I am actually not a complainer - but Saturday morning - last week - I took myself to the doctor only to find out that I had bronchitis and a throat infection. I took Monday off of work only to go in on Tuesday to 39 people being layed - off    including my boss and a LOT of people I had worked with over the past 10 years -   talk about surreal!!! I actually felt like I was in the Twilight Zone!  I did not feel back to normal until yesterday - (Sunday)
Went back to work today - only to more weirdness - but I, like millions of other people, need to keep my job, so I just smile and pretend it is just another normal day in corporate America.

Can someone please tell me when this bus gets off?

I hope your Mother's Day was great!!

Synopsis
A name does not make a person, a person makes a name. Such is the theme of Disrupted Lives, the story of how one adopted child touches and intersects with many lives, but ends up destroying one family name, while building another family's legacy.
Darren and Amelia Kane were high school sweethearts torn apart by war. They reunite and discover that they both must put their nightmares behind them to build a life together. Betrayed by her parents, Amelia was earlier forced to give up their child.
Fiona Porter and Sterling Lake are thrown together as part of a business proposition. They end up surprising both their families by enriching the Lake empire and family name. The Lakes become synonymous with society, power and money, and their children must carry that torch forward at all cost.
When an adopted grandchild is brought into the family, he questions the definition of "family". From 1920 to present-day Georgia, this saga of family secrets and old Southern prejudices are explored in the explosive novel Disrupted Lives.
